Today I’m going to share the Do’s and Don’ts for your Boudoir Session.
Without further ado…
DO’s for your Boudoir Session:
Proper Planning
Plan for your day with plenty of time cushions. There is nothing worse being late to or rushing to a boudoir photoshoot that is supposed to be fun and relaxing. Plan for traffic. After all we are in Miami.
Take care of your skin
If you don’t do this already I recommend using a moisturizer twice a day for a week before your session. On the day of the session you can use light oil based lotions, like Argan Oil and Coconut Oil Moisturizers. Most importantly don’t use any lotions that have color.
Take care of your lips
Same goes for your lips. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Any moisturizing lip balm will work.
Pamper yourself
Use this Boudoir Session to pamper yourself. A day or two before your session get a manicure and pedicure. This will create a beautiful and elevated look. Needless to say old and chipped polish is not very appealing.
Goodnight sleep
Get a goodnight sleep. There is nothing that can be more refreshing and calming than goodnight sleep. This is also part of pampering.
Make a playlist
Music is essential for creating the right mood. Match the song selection to how you want to feel. Do you want to feel like a fashion model, or sophisticated seductress, or just something that can put you in playful mood. We can pair your device to a Bluetooth speaker at the studio.
I also have some great playlists for photoshoots that tend to work well for most people.
Bring a soft and light robe
This is what you’ll be wearing while getting your hair and makeup done at the studio. No undergarments, no lingerie during the hair and makeup. Just a soft and light robe. This will give time for the marks from bras and other clothes to smooth out.
Have extra wardrobe options
Bring 4-5 different outfits (generally speaking the ones we talked about during the consultation), accessories and shoes. We may not use them all, but it is always good to have options.
Wax and Shaving
If you want to wax for your session, I recommend doing this 3-4 days before to give your skin to heal itself and to reduce any possible redness.
With shaving you would want to do it the morning of or the night before your session.
Don’t try any new products or procedures you haven’t tried before.
Trust and relax
Trust me. You are not going to do anything you are not comfortable with. And my goal is to make you look great. Remember this is my profession to make you look gorgeous and stunning using the right camera angles, light and poses.
If you feel that you have a unique body type or insecurity, I probably have seen it already and know what to do about it. Your job is to relax and have fun. I’ve got the rest.
I think this is good enough for this week and we’ll cover the DON’Ts for your Boudoir Session next week.
